New Album Project Announcement!

Yeah, that's right - totally GIMPED that thing five minutes ago, but it doesn't matter - My musical ability far exceeds my artistic talents. I am the biggest Sonic Fan on my block (and probably all of the GameStops I frequent) and I thought that I had to pay tribute to some of my favorite video game music ever. From Masato Nakamura to Howard Drossin, I plan on rearranging the whole genesis span of Sonic's Prime. Not every song will be remixed, but I plan on touching on all of Sonic'c classic gems in this album.

And it gets even better! I have the first track 90% done and I am gonna release it as a teaser for everyone right here. Whenever I think of Sonic, I think Green Hill, and hopefully you will all enjoy my rendition of the timeless song.

Go Sonic
Run as fast as you can
Don't ever look back again
Because behind you lies
The tears and cries
Of those that still hope

For another day
when South Island is free
The flickies will fly and play
And the emeralds can pass on their creed

Go Sonic
Make us free

Go go go go go go Sonic

I hear you all
Hold this to be True:
I will save you all
Or Else I will take off my shoes
Robotnik's evil will be destroyed

If it is the last thing I do

Signed – Your legendary blue hedgehog

In the coming weeks I'll show my progress on this project, including videos and ugly pictures no one cares about. As always, if you like what you are getting here for free (don't ever be coerced into paying for anything on this website), consider donating to this Free-Music project so I can continue doing what I love so much.

And for those who didn't see it the first time:

Song Title - I Don't Know

Yes, for those lazy viewers of the web - I have titled all my posts by Song Title. It makes for easier downloading, I think.

Caching! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YD8WRFW5

Yeah... not exactly a piece of art. This was initially a test song, just to see how my recording equipment would go. Pretty satisfactory, but nothing special in terms of musicality (thank you, Spencer Nilson, for that one). The song is short because I literally broke my D string on the tele as the song ended. And the lyrics are... well... just rad.

Yahoooo hooo

Tearin' down the street I look in your eyes

Troublesome dare and you bring to rise in me

A two-bit devil full of deceit

Now yahoo hoooo

And I don't know
How long I can last
You promised to make this last forever
But I don't know

The city clerks frown at our joy

they say “we treat life like we are little boys”

And we say “that's okay, who needs passion anyway”

Whoopdie doo

The rush is beginning to kill me

But thats okay you say

The high will come back really soon

But I don't know

How long can I last
Even the rag man can't answer
You say this will last forever
But I don't know

If I can do this anymore.

In other news, I have THREE (yes, 3) songs in the bag, but I am waiting for to get them all finished before I release it with my online album, which should be coming shortly. As per usual, if you like what little I have to offer and want to help me buy more recording equipment (like a freakin' D string) you can donate to this gracious online project. And if I feel giddy with gratitude, I might grace everyone a song in your dedication.

Until later, peace.

Anamnesis Begins

It is before the New Year and, as promised, I will divulge into what this project is all about. The focus of it. The mission statement. Whatever fancy name you want to call it. I thought using a reference to an okay comic-book movie would suffice.

Anamnesis, which is aptly named by that clever fellow Plato, is a project about people making music for free. Because, myself and others I have worked with in the past, believe that music can't be "owned." Have you ever tried to grab onto the sounds emitting from your stereo? Have you been successful? I know I haven't. In this capitalist society, record producers have found clever and tricky ways to make us believe music can be owned, like a tangible object. Through tapes, CDs, now MP3 and AAC, "musicians" think they can limit our "piracy." Some of the best moments of my life was when I shared an LP with another friend and we listened together.

I guess now I am a criminal. Or something.

The point is, even a musician doesn't own their own work. They created it. Now it is in the soundscape for everyone to enjoy, perhaps even carry with them, but never own. So the music created here at Anamnesis is for everyone, owned by no one, hence the title "Free-Music Project"

And now the most most embarrassing part: we might as well call this the "Starving-Artist Project" as well. I don't have the funds to sustain this project for long, even though my love for it is expansive. So. I am gonna do it as long as possible. I'll publish every song I or others make here. I'll also post videos on youtube of my extremely shabby studio and work space, whence I am writing my music. And I'll also hope to have the same amount of money I started this project with - $0. If I get anything from anyone, it will make my day, probably give me motivation to continue the project, and who knows - I might even write a song for those lucky donators.

Until I get a few songs done, peace.

As a first post for my new music project, I present a Holiday Gift to everyone: A Drummer Boy Rendition for all my friends and family. And non-friends. Cuz I like like to share the love with all.

More details on the site will be disclosed after the holidays (but before New Years, hopefully).
